The latest President of Liberia, President Joseph Boakai came out to say the country’s balance recorded was $20.5 million not $40 million as his immediate predecessor, George Weah had claimed.
It was reported by the Liberian media on Wednesday that the Senate gave out an order to the Central Bank to clarify contradictions between President Boakai and his immediate predecessor.
According to reports, the Senate sanctioned its joint committees on Public Accounts and Audit, Banking and Currency to beckon the Leadership of the Central Bank
The new president who pledges to fight corruption said he will audit and ensure that consistent and periodic auditing becomes normal in all arms of government, not just the executive.
Not too long after Former President George Weah lost his re-election bid in November, he purportedly told an audience at his congregation that he expects Boakai not to go after public officials from his administration, just as he “did not prosecute anyone” from the first Unity Party government when current President served as Vice President.
