Despite ongoing political tensions with SGF Akume and former governor Ortom, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia receives early endorsement for 2027 from the North-Central APC Forum following infrastructure project inspections.
Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and other principal stakeholders remove SGF Akume and Ex-Governor Ortom’s political rivalry with the endorsement of the 2027 Benue State governorship ticket from the North-Central APC Forum after inspecting Benue infrastructure projects.
The North-Central APC Forum has endorsed the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia for another term in 2027 as political acrimony deepens between the governor and other political leaders in the state.
The endorsement comes at a critical period of political struggle wherein the governor has had it tough with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, a chieftain of APC and governor’s opponent who has vowed to defeat her in the forth-coming election with his predecessor Chief Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
I received the Support of Benue State after a briefing of the achievements of the APC Presidential Campaign Council member Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga during his assessment tour of infrastructure projects in the state. The delegation assessed the following major projects of the state: a N 1.6 billion waterworks project at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and underpasses in Makurdi and Gboko.
“Through the projects that he is implementing, the governor of Benue State is implementing changes quietly, though some political leaders do not like that,” Zazzaga added in Abuja.
The inspection carried out at the Forum shows that there is presently more work ongoing such as renovation of the 40 years State Secretariat; improvements on the State Assembly; and construction of 16 roads in Makurdi.
Major roads and bridges in Zone A are the 23-kilometre manyam – unongo village – adikpo road and the 21-kilometre tyowanye – uga road in the Kwande and Buruku local government areas.
The Forum endorsement is meant to give affiliated support to Alia’s vision for Benue State and the North-Central zone. However, political analysts state that the ongoing feud with SGF Akume has caused factionalism within the APC in the state that may pose an impediment to Alia’s second term come 2027.
