President Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s confirmation for several significant appointments across key Nigerian institutions.
The President Tinubu submitted names to occupy leadership positions at both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and National Pension Commission (PENCOM) and Police Service Commission (PSC) and Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) position.
President Tinubu submitted three nominees to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for INEC positions by naming Tukur Yusuf as North-West National Electoral Commissioner and Professor Sunday Aja as South-East National Electoral Commissioner and Saseyi Ibiyemi for Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner role.
The appointments follow the guidelines set by Section 154(1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
The President recommends Omolola Bridget Oloworaran to serve as Director-General for PENCOM leadership.
The Director-General nomination fulfills the requirements mentioned in Section 26(1) of the Pension Reform Act 2014.
President Tinubu has requested that the Senate grant Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun the role of Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun holds the position of Acting CJN since Justice Olukayode Ariwoola retired from his position.
She received the endorsement of the National Judicial Council to become the Chief Justice of Nigeria according to Section 231(1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
The President recently submitted Deputy Inspector General of Police (Retired) Buba Ringim together with Honorable Justice Adamu Paul Galumje (Retired) and Christine Ladi Dabup and Abdulfatah Muhammed to the Police Service Commission (PSC) as member candidates.
The appointments follow the provisions of Section 154(1) within the Nigerian Constitution.
The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Governing Board has received three new nominations for membership composed of Fatai Ibikunle and Kennedy Ikpeme and Justice Ibrahim Buba.
