Digital Inclusion Fund receives a significant boost as Airtel Uganda contributes UGX 37.9 billion to the Uganda Communications Universal Service and Access Fund (UCUSAF).

This amount represents 2% of Airtel’s gross revenue for the 2024 financial year, aligning with its national telecommunications license obligations

The handover ceremony took place at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) headquarters. Airtel Uganda’s Managing Director, Soumendra Sahu, emphasized that the contribution is a strategic investment in Uganda’s digital future.

He highlighted the shared vision between Airtel and UCC to bridge the digital divide and drive inclusive growth through communication services

UCUSAF, managed by the UCC, aims to develop communication services in unserved and underserved areas.

The fund supports extending broadband and voice coverage to rural communities, facilitating ICT access in schools and health centers.

Hon George William Nyombi Thembo, the Executive Director of the UCC, commended Airtel Uganda’s consistent support.

He noted that achieving universal access requires collective responsibility and deliberate investment by all stakeholders in the industry.

This contribution underscores Airtel Uganda’s commitment to enhancing digital connectivity across the country.

By investing in the Digital Inclusion Fund, Airtel aims to ensure that every Ugandan, regardless of location, has access to fast, reliable, and affordable communication services
