Amapiano artist DJ Azonto has announced plans to sue influencer Dr Likee for $1 billion, accusing him of orchestrating a campaign that severely harmed his music career.
In a heated interview on a radio show the musician alleged that Dr Likee spread false claims suggesting Azonto stole songs and manipulated streams, accusations DJ Azonto says killed his big break and blocked performances at major events.
“I lost my gigs, collaborations, and reputation all because he spoke lies,” DJ Azonto declared on Instagram, warning that he will pursue both legal action and international compensation.
The claim sparked debate in Ghana’s music community.
Some fellow artists sympathize, noting that unverified rumors can irreparably damage public image and career prospects, especially in fast-moving digital spaces.
Dr Likee has yet to respond publicly. However, DJ Azonto insists he has gathered evidence, including listener and streaming analytics, to prove the allegations were malicious and costly.
