Award-winning gospel singer Empress Gifty has pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA (GMA USA) clinching the coveted Artiste of the Year award ahead of some of Ghana’s most dominant mainstream musicians.
The glamorous ceremony, held in Columbus, Ohio, saw Empress Gifty emerge victorious over a highly competitive lineup that reportedly included Black Sherif, Sarkodie, King Promise, and Stonebwoy.
Her win marks a rare moment in the award’s history where a female gospel artiste has not only dominated her category but also outshone top secular acts on an international stage.

Taking to the stage in an emotional acceptance speech, Empress Gifty thanked her supporters and gave glory to God:
“This shows that gospel music can stand side by side with any genre. I dedicate this award to everyone who believes in the power of worship.”
Social media reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many fans calling the moment “well-deserved” and describing her victory as a win for the entire gospel fraternity.
In addition to Artiste of the Year, Empress Gifty also bagged the Gospel Song of the Year award for her hit single Awieyε Pa, further cementing her dominant run in 2025.
