Nollywood actor Emeka Okoye has opened up about how his physical appearance has affected his acting career.

The actor revealed that his size has made some filmmakers hesitant to cast him, especially in lead roles that require a slimmer figure.

He explained that this bias didn’t just begin recently, even when he was much slimmer, he still faced similar challenges from producers who doubted his fit for certain characters.

Rather than let the rejection break him, Okoye said he chose to focus on improving his skills and staying consistent, believing that talent would eventually speak louder than appearance.

Beyond acting, Okoye said his faith plays a huge role in shaping the kind of projects he accepts.

He made it clear that he avoids roles that might compromise his beliefs or values as a Christian.

“Since 1999, I’ve turned down movie roles that go against my covenant with God. I only do safe kissing scenes, like the one in Ms. Counselor.

You won’t see me doing deep or tongue-to-tongue kisses,” he stated.

According to him, remaining true to his faith brings him peace, even when it means missing out on certain offers.

For Okoye, his walk with God matters more than fame or financial gain.

Okoye recalled one of the most emotional moments of his career, getting selected for a role in a Netflix Original film.

He described it as a sign that perseverance truly pays off.

“At the start of my career, I faced the good, the bad, and the ugly. But I never gave up.

Then, weeks later, I got a call saying Madam Kemi had picked me for a Netflix role.

I screamed, dropped to my knees, and praised God,” he recounted.

Looking back, the actor said he now sees every struggle as part of the process.

His story, he added, proves that success in Nollywood is not just about looks but about staying consistent, grounded, and faithful to one’s calling.
