Seun Kuti has criticised Wizkid’s fans for comparing the singer to Fela Kuti, calling it an insult to his late father’s legacy.

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has sparked fresh controversy online following a fiery statement directed at fans of Nigerian music star Wizkid, popularly known as Wizkid FC.
In the strongly worded remark, Seun Kuti criticised comparisons between Wizkid and his late father, Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, describing such claims as disrespectful and misleading.
According to Seun, attempts by some fans to portray Wizkid as the “new Fela” amount to an appropriation of Fela’s image and legacy.
Seun accused Wizkid’s fanbase of deliberately pushing a false narrative and warned them to stop mentioning Fela’s name in such contexts.
He stressed that Fela’s cultural, political, and musical impact cannot be replicated or rebranded through modern pop stardom.
