Nigerian singer and songwriter Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, has shared the personal and health struggles that caused a delay in releasing her track “Where You Dey,” featuring Chike.

These struggles led to a delay in the release of her song “Where You Dey,” featuring Chike.

Simi initially intended to release the track last year after a snippet created significant fan excitement.

In a candid statement on her X page last Friday, Simi revealed that she had originally planned to release the song last year, following a snippet that generated significant excitement among fans.

She explained that the delay was due to serious physical challenges.

“I was sick, weak, nauseous, and exhausted my body just wouldn’t cooperate,” she shared, adding that she pushed through her illness even during the snippet video shoot to give her best performance.

Simi also praised Chike, expressing her admiration for his voice and professionalism.

She said she knew he was the ideal collaborator for the song.

Although Chike was initially away, he rushed to her studio upon returning, unaware that she was pregnant and facing physical difficulties at the time.

Looking back on the studio sessions, Simi admitted she is still amazed by the energy she managed to bring to the video despite her condition.

She also revealed that she handled the mixing and mastering herself, despite her dislike for the mastering process.

“I hate mastering, so I don’t know what I was thinking,” she confessed.

The singer expressed her disappointment at missing the planned release date, especially since fans had already connected with the song and were eagerly awaiting its official release.

She explained that her health prevented her from promoting the track properly or even fully recalling some of the content creation process.

Addressing public speculation about her career, Simi added that the release of the song also serves as a response to critics who claim she sidelined her career after getting married.

I really, really, really wanted to drop this song last year. When I first put out the snippet, I was so excited – but it was hard to finish it on time because everything was a blur. I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired and my body just wouldn't do what I wanted it to. Even… pic.twitter.com/948M9XChpX
