Nigeria prays more than almost any country in the world, yet still battles division.
Every Friday, mosques are full. Every Sunday, churches are full. Traditional worshippers still pray for peace. But Monday to Thursday, we fight each other over religion. Politicians use religion to divide us — Muslim-Muslim ticket, Christian-Christian ticket, “they want to Islamize”, “they want to Christianize”. It is a lie.
No God preaches hate. No God preaches killing for election.
A Better Nigeria needs faith that heals, not faith that wounds.
What Better Nigeria Faith Means:
- No God Preaches Hate: Any pastor or imam who preaches hate, division, “kill them”, is fake. Real faith preaches love, mercy, forgiveness. On July 24, 2026, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA) jointly launched an Interfaith Code of Conduct at Abuja Peace Conference to ban hate preaching and guide religious leaders, media and schools. Sultan of Sokoto reaffirmed October 2026: “There is no compulsion in religion. We do not intend to force anybody to join Islam.” Nigeria inter-Religious Council(NIREC) co-chaired by Sultan and CAN President must now enforce sanctions.
- Faith for Service, Not for Show: Churches and mosques have the loudest speakers, biggest buildings. Use that power for clinics, schools, feeding, skill centres. Every mega church/mosque must have one free school or hospital in its community. Faith must be visible in service.
- Interfaith Life, Not Just Conference: Not only big men in Abuja hotels doing interfaith dialogue. Do it on the street: Joint CAN-NSCIA cleanup, joint Christian-Muslim market vigilante, joint youth football. When children play together, they will not kill each other tomorrow.
- Protect All Worship: No one should fear going to church in the North, or mosque in the South, or shrine anywhere. Government must protect all faiths equally. Burning a church = burning a mosque = crime against Nigeria. NSCIA 2026 Communique: Insecurity is criminality, not “Muslim terrorists or Christian terrorists” — rejected genocide narrative, demanded security overhaul for all.
Nigeria’s strength is our faith, if we use it well.
Your Task Today: Greet one person from a different faith sincerely. Visit, call, help. Do not argue doctrine. Just show love. That is Better Nigeria.
