The Ghanaian creative arts personality KOKA has dared President John Mahama to sack KOD now, on a recent media appearance.
He called on the immediate sacking of KOD as a Jubilee House official.
KOKA whose actual name is Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu accused KOD of encouraging gayism through the presidential office.
According to him, the action compromises the national values and disregards the cultural standards of Ghana.
He demanded that the President should move fast: “Otherwise, the culture of Ghana will be destroyed.” He cautioned against the existence of KOD in government.
This blistering outlook is amid increased tension of the proposed anti-LGBTQ+ Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill in Parliament.
There has been a heated debate on the position of Ghana on LGBTQ+ rights.
KOKA’s demand is debatable. A few Ghanaians hailed him as a defender of tradition, others condemned him as an intolerance promoter.
Human right supporters claim that this may suppress the freedom of speech.
The vocal appeal issued by KOKA gives another turn to the current discussion in Ghana about the place of LGBTQ + and their representation, government and cultural belonging.
With the piling pressure, the reaction of the President is awaited by many.
