This is not me, says the Nigerian music legend 2Baba in a candid apology video he posted.
He expressed regret for his recent podcast comment suggesting men can’t be sexually exclusive to one woman
The 49-year-old said in the video, “I know I did wrong with what I said.”
He has apologized to his wife, Natasha Osawaru, his children and fans. I am dreadfully sorry. That is not me, he said.
2Baba clarified that he used words that were not well articulated and had to own up to it.
He said that he anticipates to have to pay the price of the backlash and that he will learn the lesson.
His followers and opposers reacted promptly.
There were those who defended him, and those who advised him to be more careful in the way he spoke in public.
The apology sparked off debates on the contemporary marriage standards and celebrity responsibility to society.
This is what 2Baba says as he undergoes personal changes.
He just divorced Annie Macaulay-Idibia and is currently engaged to lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
The fact that he made such comments and a heartfelt apology at the time he did shows how much pressure is exerted on the public figures in the spotlight.
