Highlife star Kwabena Kwabena has stirred controversy with unexpected relationship advice for African footballers playing abroad.

“Be careful in relationships with foreign women,” the musician warned during a radio interview, citing concerns about cultural misunderstandings and financial exploitation.

The “Adult Music” hitmaker explained his stance: “Many of our players lose focus and fortune chasing foreign lovers who don’t understand our ways.” His comments specifically targeted young professionals in European leagues.

Kwabena Kwabena doubled down: “I’ve seen too many careers derailed by bitter custody battles and divorces.” He referenced unnamed Ghanaian players who allegedly lost millions in settlements.

The debate touches raw nerves in Ghana’s sports community. With over 300 Ghanaian footballers abroad, their high-profile relationships often make headlines. Some, like Asamoah Gyan’s costly divorce, support Kwabena’s warnings.

Current stars remain divided. While one anonymous Premier League player agreed “foreign relationships come with unique stresses,” others dismissed the advice as outdated.

As African athletes continue globalizing, this conversation reveals tensions between maintaining cultural roots and embracing international lifestyles. Kwabena Kwabena’s intervention, whether welcomed or not, ensures the discussion won’t fade soon.
