The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo State is reeling after the assassination of its registrar, Ezekiel Imole Adeniran, who was found dead at his residence in Akure early on Thursday July 17, 2025

Ayanlade, the state police spokesperson, confirmed that investigators have categorized the incident as an assassination.

He revealed that two men emerged from nearby bushland and forced a substance into Adeniran’s mouth before fleeing the scene.

Authorities are currently working to confirm exact circumstances and identify suspects

Adeniran, 41, assumed office on January 6, 2025, serving as the third substantive registrar.

His sudden death shocked university staff and students, who remember him as a dedicated and hardworking administrator.

UNIMED’s management confirmed his death and called it a devastating loss for the institution

The police have appealed to anyone with information to come forward, offering confidentiality, and emphasizing their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice

The investigation continues, with the police scouring the crime scene and nearby areas for leads.
