The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disowned the actions of a former staff member who resurfaced in a viral matchmaking programme.

The ex-staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, was recently dismissed for certificate forgery. He worked as a driver at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate before his dismissal.

Despite his exit, Folarin appeared on Lege Miami’s matchmaking show identifying as an EFCC officer—a move the Commission strongly condemned.

In a swift response, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered his arrest for unlawfully holding on to Commission properties, including an identity card that should have been surrendered upon dismissal.

The Commission clarified that Folarin’s actions do not represent EFCC, warning the public against associating his post-dismissal behavior with the agency.

This incident raises questions about how dismissed staff access sensitive EFCC property even after termination.
