Nnamdi Kanu Tells Court He’ll Defend Himself As Lead Counsel Kanu Agabi, Others Withdraw
The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on Thursday told the court that he would be representing himself after his lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), applied to withdraw from the case.
Agabi informed the court that the defence team was stepping down, saying the defendant had decided to take over the conduct of the case.
All the Senior Advocates of Nigeria previously representing Kanu also formally withdrew from the matter, a development Kanu personally confirmed in open court.
Police arrest Sowore after court appearance for Nnamdi Kanu
Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has been whisked away from the precincts of the Federal High Court in Abuja by armed policemen
He was Arrested shortly after he made appearance for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Sowore, who is a frontline agitator for Kanu’s release from detention, was on Thursday accosted by the security operatives who insisted he must move with them to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command.
Asked what his offence was, one of the officers explained that they were executing an order from the Commissioner of Police.

18-year-old Mohammed Aminu Sani has made history as Nigeria’s youngest commercial pilot.
The young Nigerian earned his United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot License from Phoenix East Aviation in Daytona Beach, Florida.
This follows after he completed the 10-month program without a single check ride failure.

Naira/Dollar rates today, October 23, as naira gains slightly at black market, weakens at official Market
The Naira recorded a mild appreciation in the parallel market on Wednesday, exchanging at ₦1,492 per dollar, compared to ₦1,495 per dollar on Tuesday.
However, at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency experienced a slight depreciation, trading at ₦1,462 per dollar, weaker than its previous rate of ₦1,464.5 per dollar.
According to data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the naira gained ₦2.5 at the official window.

Nigeria’s government launched a national strategy to strengthen nursing and midwifery, aiming to expand access to quality health services and accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The Nigeria Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery (NSDNM) 2025–2030 details reforms to enhance the training, deployment, and performance of nurses and midwives.
Developed by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOH) with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded by the UK Government’s Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
It aligns with the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and WHO’s Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery (2021–2025). Government priorities health workforce strengthening
