Trump tells Defense Department to ‘prepare for possible action’ in Nigeria

President Donald Trump on Saturday said he has instructed the Defense Department to “prepare for possible action” in Nigeria over the country’s alleged killing of Christians.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote on social media

PDP, NNPP, CUPP accuse Tinubu of forcing defections

Opposition parties have accused President Bola Tinubu of using public resources and anti-graft agencies to pressure opposition members into joining the All Progressives Congress.

The parties stated that the APC was on the verge of collapse following the recent wave of defections from opposition parties into its ranks.

In separate interviews with Sunday PUNCH, spokespersons for the Peoples Democratic Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, and Coalition of United Political Parties —Debo Ologunagba, Oladipo Johnson, and Mark Adebayo, respectively—said an implosion was imminent in the APC.

But the APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, stated that recent defections to the party were voluntary and inspired by the ruling party’s achievements, not through coercion.

He added that the APC was well-structured, capable of managing its internal affairs effectively, and therefore would not experience any internal crisis.

Riley Moore, the U.S. representative for West Virginia’s 2nd congressional district, has issued a stern warning to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu amid rising tensions over reports of violence against Christians in Nigeria.

Moore’s statement came in response to President Donald Trump’s recent remarks condemning the alleged killings and threatening possible U.S. military intervention if the attacks persist.

In a tweet addressing the situation, Moore cautioned President Tinubu and the Nigerian government not to underestimate Trump’s resolve.

Tinubu assures farmers of subsidized fertilizer next season — Yari

Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerian farmers that they will smile next farming season as the Federal Government plans to provide fertilizer in sufficient quantity and at subsidized.

Yari made this known while speaking with journalists shortly after addressing state executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who paid him a visit at his residence in Talata-Mafara on Saturday.

He said President Tinubu is committed to strengthening citizens’ welfare and has put mechanisms in place to make fertilizer available and affordable for farmers nationwide to boost agricultural productivity and improve food security.

I wish Nigeria was a better country – Singer Simi

Afrobeats singer, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has expressed pride in being a Nigerian, stressing that her favourite thing about the country is the spirit of the citizens, which she claims can’t be replicated by foreigners.

The Joromi crooner, however, said she wished Nigeria was a better country, adding that if the country was working citizens won’t be migrating en-masse.

Speaking in a recent episode of the 90s Baby Show, Simi said,

“My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it.

Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian.

Even when they are faking African accents in Hollywood movies, they never actually fake a Nigerian accent.

“They always fake East Africa and South African accents.

Being a Nigerian doesn’t just come as naturally, it just feels like home.
