President Tinubu Approves Privatisation Of Port Harcourt Airport, Bans Sale Of FAAN Property

President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive steps in the aviation sector, approving the privatisation of Port Harcourt International Airport’s operations while placing a ban on the sale or transfer of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) property across the country.

The new directive was announced by Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, after Thursday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.

Keyamo said the President had “ordered a strict prohibition on the sale or transfer of any properties owned by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) located within or adjacent to airport areas.”

Bandits Kill Two Community Leaders In Katsina, Abduct Several Residents Despite ‘Peace Deal’

Residents said the attackers arrived on motorcycles, parked them in the bush, and walked into the village to avoid being noticed.

Two community leaders were killed and several residents abducted on Thursday when bandits attacked Doguwar Dorawa, a farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Community sources said the assailants invaded the village around 10pm, killing two brothers, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, despite an existing “peace deal” between the communities and the bandits.

A community leader, Mahadi Danbinta Guga, said they were killed in cold blood, Daily Trust reports.

Residents said the attackers arrived on motorcycles, parked them in the bush, and walked into the village to avoid being noticed.

They operated in the village for over an hour, killing, looting, and abducting people without resistance.

Residents said the attackers are believed to be loyalists of Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, two bandit leaders operating in Bakori and nearby communities.

While Doguwar Dorawa was attacked, Layin ‘Yannehu was simultaneously raided, with bandits rustling a number of animals.

Oluwamayokun, a Superintendent Route Commander, is a fourth-level senior operational officer in the FRSC hierarchy, responsible for overseeing multiple routes and coordinating strategic enforcement operations.

Dollar to Naira exchange rate today, November 7, 2025

The naira traded broadly steady on Friday, November 7, 2025, with the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) — the Central Bank of Nigeria’s volume-weighted average price — around ₦1,437–₦1,444 to the US dollar, market platforms and central-bank data show.

At the parallel (black-market) window in Lagos and other commercial centres, dealers quoted the greenback between roughly ₦1,440 (buy) and ₦1,455 (sell) per dollar, though some informal sources reported isolated trades as high as about ₦1,515.

That put the informal market roughly ₦10–₦70 weaker than the NFEM mid-point on Friday.

Shettima: Nigeria has set a target to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 32 per cent by 2035

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced yesterday at the Leaders’ Climate Summit during the COP30 conference in Belém, Brazil.

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, VP Shettima said the new target reaffirms Nigeria’s leadership in Africa’s climate action efforts and reflects a firm commitment to global sustainability.

The reduction plan, he explained, will be driven by two flagship initiatives – the National Carbon Market Framework and the Climate Change Fund – designed to attract billions of dollars in clean energy investments and support climate adaptation across vulnerable communities.

Shettima noted that Nigeria has also launched a five-year Carbon Market Roadmap to establish an Emissions Trading System and Carbon Tax Regime, encouraging industries to innovate sustainably.

Urging developed nations to match rhetoric with results, Shettima said:

“Let COP30 be remembered as the moment the world moved from pledges to performance, from ambition to action.

”He warned that climate change is already causing devastating loss and displacement globally, adding that developing nations cannot meet climate goals “on goodwill alone.”
