President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has sparked conversations after criticising the growing number of private jets owned by wealthy individuals in Nigeria.
Dangote reportedly expressed concern over what he described as a misplaced investment culture among the country’s elite.
According to him, excessive spending on luxury assets such as private jets does little to support economic growth or job creation.
He noted that the situation has become so pronounced that finding parking space for aircraft at local airports is increasingly difficult because many wealthy Nigerians own private jets.
“Sometimes it pains me that it’s hard to find parking space for your plane at a local airport in Nigeria because everyone has a private jet.
Those jets should be invested in industries so we can create jobs,” he said.
