The Ogun State Government has visited a Nigerian TikToker, identified as Mirabel (@mirab351), who is currently hospitalised after alleging that she was raped by a man in a video that went viral on social media.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

Adeleye said the state government had initiated a coordinated, multi-sectoral response to the allegation of sexual assault, noting that the TikToker had been admitted to a state-owned health facility, where she is receiving comprehensive medical care, investigation and psychosocial support.

According to the Commissioner, Mirabel has been responding positively to treatment.

She explained that the hospital visit was aimed at assessing the victim’s condition and ensuring that appropriate medical and welfare interventions were being promptly administered.

“This structured approach is intended to protect the survivor’s welfare while guaranteeing that investigations are conducted professionally, thoroughly, and strictly on the basis of verifiable evidence,” Adeleye stated.

Detailed examinations and all required clinical procedures are being carried out in line with established standards for managing cases of alleged sexual assault, while security agencies are simultaneously conducting investigations.

“The welfare, dignity and safety of every survivor remain our utmost priority.

The Dapo Abiodun-led administration maintains a zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence.

“However, while we stand firmly with survivors, we are equally guided by due process.

Investigations must be evidence-based, transparent and fair to all parties involved. Whoever is found wanting will face the full wrath of the law,” she added.

The Commissioner commended the Ogun State Police Command for its prompt action following the case’s transfer from the Lagos State authorities.

She also lauded the swift response of the medical team at the state-owned facility and the State Ministry of Justice.

Adeleye urged members of the public to refrain from speculative narratives or sensational commentary capable of undermining due process and ongoing investigations.

She assured that further updates would be communicated as credible findings emerge.

Mirabel had alleged that she was attacked and raped by a stranger in the Ogijo area of Ogun State on Sunday.

According to her account shared on social media, a male suspect forcibly gained entry into her apartment and sexually assaulted her.

The allegation triggered widespread outrage online, with many social media users calling for swift justice and stronger protection for survivors of sexual violence.
