Residents of Plateau State have taken to the streets as protests erupt in Plateau following the deadly attacks that occurred on Palm Sunday, leaving several people feared dead.

The demonstrations were sparked by outrage over the violence, which reportedly targeted communities during the Christian observance, intensifying tensions in the affected areas. Protesters expressed anger over what they described as repeated security failures and called on authorities to take decisive action.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the protests saw large crowds demanding justice for victims and improved protection for vulnerable communities. Some demonstrators reportedly blocked roads and chanted slogans, urging the government to address the growing insecurity in the state.

The attacks, which took place during Palm Sunday, have further heightened fears among residents, many of whom say such incidents have become increasingly frequent.

Security agencies have since been deployed to maintain order, while government officials have appealed for calm and assured citizens that efforts are underway to track down those responsible.

The situation underscores ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria’s Middle Belt, where communal and sectarian violence has persisted over the years, often leading to loss of lives and displacement of residents.
