Several members of Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun security outfit were reportedly injured after they were ambushed by suspected bandits during an operation in the Old Oyo National Park.
According to reports, the operatives were carrying out a security mission in the forest, using surveillance drones to monitor the movement of suspected kidnappers and other criminal elements when they came under heavy gunfire from armed men.
Sources said the attack resulted in injuries to several members of the team, though the exact number of casualties has not been officially disclosed.
Following the incident, social media posts claimed that bullets fired at some members of the Iru Ekun outfit failed to penetrate their bodies.
However, there is currently no official confirmation or independent verification of that claim.
Neither security authorities nor Sunday Igboho have publicly confirmed the reports circulating online.
As of the time of filing this report, the focus of verified reports remains on the ambush and the injuries sustained during the operation.
The reported attack has renewed concerns over the security situation in forested areas of Oyo State, where kidnappers and other armed groups have reportedly operated in recent years.
