The Nigeria Police Force in a series of successful operations that portrayed better policing has neutralised an illegal manufacturing company for weapons and arrested more suspects in related cases across the country.

The first operation in which Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume were arrested were accused of running a well-equipped weapons manufacturing company in Tse Akamabe, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi detailed that operatives uncovered nine locally made pistols, a half-produced AK47 rifle, and industrial tools such as gas cylinders, vice machines, and other manufacturing instruments used in making the weapons.

In another sweep at Delta State, the police formations; another great feat was recorded in the arrest of Prosper Akeni, 32, an alleged high-ranking member of the Eiye confraternity. The suspect, as has been described to be one of the cult group’s hired-gun-like assassin(s), was said to have been nabbed with English and Beretta Pistols, locally produced arms and ammunition. “This suspect has now admitted that he is the man who is most responsible for where the weapons that the group had were hidden,” the authorities said.

The police force also recorded an improvement in violent crimes in other areas. In Kebbi State, two different places one fatally stabbed was arrested out of separate cases.

Yunusa Haruna aged 25, was arrested for the alleged murder of his elder brother Isiyaku Haruna in Bakin Turu Village. In contrast, Abubakar Ummar was arrested in Zuru Village when he killed Mohammed Bala during a fight.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun described these operations as tackling some of the major milestones in the Operation against any criminal activities across the country.

’These are essential steps in discharging our responsibility of ensuring that security and safety of the public is preserved,’ the IGP said while calling on his officers not to rest from operations.

The police leadership has urged community cooperation in the fight against crime. They Are also encouraging members of the public to provide intelligence support to the police’s community policing.

These recent successes illustrate the efficacy of operationalization of intelligence-led policing in the Nigerian context to halt the production of prohibited firearms and violent crimes in Nigeria.

These coordinated operations evidence the police force’s enhanced capacity in composite operations for addressing various security threats ranging from Illegal weapons production, cultism violent crimes and so on, in as much as this shows a more holistic approach to regard the force for the safety of lives and properties.
