On May 4, 2025, popular Nigerian TikTok influencer Peller issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other involved parties, demanding the immediate release of social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
Police apprehended the activist together with an unnamed companion outside GTBank in Abuja on May 2, 2025 before releasing the companion afterward.
Through his social media video Peller demonstrated great concern about VeryDarkMan’s detention as he highlighted both the societal impact of the activist and the damage that would occur to his dependents if his detention extended further.
The individual who arrested VeryDarkMan has one day to free the activist or face consequences he announced. Barring this individual prevents him from providing help to the people in need.
