Activist Verydarkman, has shared the story of his private encounter with former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, following reports of Musa’s nomination as Minister of Defence by President Bola Tinubu.

In a lengthy video posted online, Verydarkman revealed that he had once been summoned by the military leadership after publicly criticising General Musa’s comments about the Yelwata massacre in Benue State.

According to him, on June 14, 2025, violent attacks by suspected herdsmen claimed the lives of scores of residents in Yelwata, Benue State.

He said he visited the community on June 15 and witnessed the aftermath firsthand, recording graphic evidence that later gained massive attention online and forced authorities to respond.

However, after General Musa appeared on television to comment on the massacre, Verydarkman criticised him publicly, expressing dissatisfaction with his statements.

Two days later, he was informed that the Army was looking for him.

He recounted being taken to a military base in Asokoro, where he unexpectedly came face-to-face with the CDS himself.

“When the door opened, I saw Christopher Musa—the same man I had blasted online,” he said.

Verydarkman said the General asked everyone else to leave the room before telling him, “I need your help.”

He explained that Musa wanted detailed information about what he saw in Yelwata and any intelligence he had gathered.

The activist said he had already been speaking with people who understood the longstanding conflict involving Fulani groups and had received video evidence from them.

He described Musa as a man willing to seek information from any credible source, regardless of status:

“For a Chief of Defence Staff to call Verydarkman to his house and say ‘I need your help,’ it shows he was genuinely looking for solutions. There was no pride.”
