Dauda Seidu Bayigo plans to swim from Ghana to the US to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual swimming marathon.
Ghanaian swimmer Dauda Seidu Bayigo has announced his ambitious plan to swim from Ghana to the United States in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual swimming marathon.
The journey, covering approximately 10,000 kilometers, is set to commence on June 6, 2025.
Bayigo, who shared his plans on TikTok, aims to surpass the current record held by Tunisian swimmer Nejib Belhedi, who swam 120 kilometers across the Gulf of Gabès in 76 hours and 30 minutes in 2018.
In preparation for this monumental feat, Bayigo has been training rigorously and is seeking public support and sponsorships to aid his journey.
He has also shared training videos and route maps on social media to engage supporters and raise awareness about his endeavor.
If successful, Bayigo’s swim would not only break the existing record but also set a new benchmark in the world of long-distance open water swimming.
