Davido is Standing His Ground after he abruptly cancelled his long-awaited July 3 concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The Nigerian superstar blamed it on major misalignment with organisers, concluding that the production failed to meet him on his standards .
In a message posted on Instagram, Davido stressed that, although ticket sales were good and fans came out in force, logistical issues could not be overcome, which is why he could not give his fans the show they have a right to expect.
He set up the cancellation in terms of principle and respect, of his craft, fans, and culture.
The concert, which was to run alongside 50 Cent and Mary J Blige will go on without him.
He made promises to fans in other cities: I will be back to Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S. Davido concluded stating, London, I will be back soon. We should respect Africa”
In this step, Davido shows his readiness to put quality control ahead of prestige. His message is clear, fans may be disappointed but integrity is first.
