Nigerian street-hop star Portable has sparked fresh controversy after publicly threatening to beat up content creator and comedian Carter Efe, accusing him of secretly poaching artistes from his Zeh Nation record label.
In a new Instagram Live video, Portable alleged that Carter Efe used back-door tactics to lure away almost all the artistes under his label, warning that he will physically confront him the moment they cross paths.
“Carter Efe has taken all of my artistes. The day I see him, I will b3at him up. I’ll deal with him even more than I did with DJ Chicken. Tell him I’m looking for him,” the singer said during the live broadcast.
Portable did not reveal the names of the affected artistes, but insisted that the matter was far more serious than his now infamous clash with DJ Chicken, which ended in violence and legal complaints.
The comments have already stirred strong reactions online.
While some fans argue that Carter Efe should respond publicly if the allegations are false, others believe Portable should seek a legal solution rather than threaten violence.
One user wrote, “This is business. He should get a good lawyer and secure his artistes with proper contracts instead of shouting threats every time.”
Carter Efe has not responded to the accusations.
Until record labels, big or small start prioritising clear legal agreements and artiste welfare, cases like this will continue to repeat themselves.
Portable may be frustrated, but physical threats can’t solve what only structure and professionalism can fix.
