Social activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has announced new safety measures aimed at reducing the growing number of deadly accidents along the Auchi–Edo road, stating that Dangote trucks will no longer be allowed to operate on the route “for now.”
In an early-morning message directed at billionaire Aliko Dangote, VDM declared that the move is a temporary but necessary safety intervention following a series of fatal crashes involving trucks allegedly driven by unlicensed or poorly trained drivers.
“Measures to reduce the accident on Auchi road. NO MORE DANGOTE TRUCK MOVEMENT FOR NOW… @aliko_dangotegcon good morning sir, ” VDM wrote.
The activist added that the decision was taken in the interest of protecting residents and ensuring that the Dangote Group urgently addresses the growing concerns around driver licensing and roadworthiness.
This announcement comes only days after VDM visited the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, where a 22-year-old student has reportedly been abandoned for 11 months after being crushed by a Dangote truck. He also claimed that six people were killed in a separate crash along the same route just 24 hours earlier.
According to VDM, the restriction on truck movement will remain in effect until the company presents clear measures showing that its drivers are properly screened, licensed and monitored.
The Dangote Group has not yet responded to this latest development.
