Arrested Nollywood actress and singer, Angela Okorie, remains in custody at the Suleja Correctional Facility despite reportedly meeting the bail conditions granted by the court.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday granted the actress bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with one surety in like sum, who must be a Level 13 civil servant.

However, self-acclaimed human rights activist Stanley Ontop took to his Instagram page to provide an update on the situation, explaining why she was yet to be released.

In his words, he said:

“Angela Okorie’s bail application has been processed, but after we finished the processing, time had already gone.”

According to him, the actress’s bail was secured following the intervention of several activists and public figures, including Omoyele Sowore, Mama Pee, and Randy Peter.

Despite fulfilling the court’s requirements, Angela Okorie remained in custody, a development that has sparked concern and controversy across social media platforms.

Stanley Ontop further reassured the public, saying:

We have met all her bail conditions. She will be out of Suleja prison by Monday.

Following the update, many Nigerians expressed confusion and frustration over why the actress was not released immediately after meeting her bail terms, while others called for greater transparency in the process.

Some social media users also applauded the activists and celebrities who intervened on her behalf.

According to Stanley Ontop, the delay was due to the bail process being concluded late on Friday, with assurances that Angela Okorie will regain her freedom on Monday.
