The Lagos State Police Command has officially stepped into the controversy involving Pastor Chris Okafor, following public allegations made against the popular cleric by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

The development marks a new phase in the unfolding saga that has attracted widespread attention on social media.

Reports confirm that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to open an inquiry into the matter.

The instruction reportedly came despite earlier claims by the police that no formal petition had been filed by any of the alleged victims.Pastor to Be Invited, Alleged Victims to Be Contacted

According to police spokesperson CSP Abimbola Adebisi, officers have now been mandated to invite Pastor Okafor for questioning while also reaching out to those who have publicly made allegations.

She added that investigators will connect with individuals willing to cooperate to ensure a thorough probe.

The Commissioner of Police reportedly approved that the investigation should continue even in the absence of an official complaint.

The police also reached out to a YouTuber who earlier interviewed some of the alleged victims, in an effort to gain direct access to potential witnesses.

The controversy began in December after actress Doris Ogala publicly accused Pastor Okafor of misconduct, claiming she had been in a long-term relationship with him since 2017.

This development comes only days after Pastor Okafor revealed he would be stepping aside temporarily for a retreat with his wife, a move many linked to the ongoing controversy.

With the police now officially involved, Nigerians are watching closely as events continue to unfold.
