Nollywood stalwart Ugezu J. Ugezu has drawn a line in the sand: he refuses to sacrifice his Igbo heritage , metaphysics, traditions, and language even for lucrative endorsement deals.
He proudly identifies as a “man of the ancestors,” grounding his identity in cultural fidelity.
Despite receiving offers from prominent brands that sought to dilute this heritage, Ugezu declined them all, reaffirming his commitment to authenticity and cultural preservation
Ugezu’s conviction is not new. Over the years, he has consistently promoted Igbo culture through both his cinematic work and personal practices.

He often shares photos wearing traditional attire, even as a child, and embraces the nickname “Igbotic,” a badge of pride affirming his visible connection to his roots.
He has also chosen locally made items like shoes from Aba over foreign imports to support Igbo craftsmanship.
