EOCO statement reveals Shatta Wale begged for secrecy over Lamborghini seizure to avoid damage to his public image.
Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) confirmed that dancehall star Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah) requested discretion before the seizure of his 2019 Lamborghini Urus during a joint operation with U.S. agencies. He argued that public exposure would damage his music persona and how fans perceive him.

In response, EOCO allowed him to voluntarily surrender the vehicle, initially limiting public details about the seizure.
The Lamborghini is now under EOCO’s custody pending further investigation, as part of an FBI- and U.S. DOJ-backed asset recovery operation linked to alleged fraud proceeds.
Shatta Wale’s appeal highlights his concern over image management, even amidst serious legal scrutiny. EOCO’s cooperation and de-escalation of public exposure underscores the complexity of celebrity-status asset seizures. As investigations unfold, all eyes remain on the legal ramifications and public fallout.
