Leila Djansi, Ghanian -American Actress Recalled how popular America movie Production, ‘Woman king’ was snatched from her by South Africans due to the lack of ultramodern equipment

Leila Djansi shared this In an interview with Hitz FM shared on X on September 9, 2025, she noted that she was supposed to produce the much-talked about project in Ghana; however, the project was snatched from her by South Africans.

She stressed further that due to a lack of ultramodern equipment in the country, the project fell into the hands of South Africans.

The Woman King was supposed to be shot here. | was actually supposed to produce The Woman King, but somehow South Africa took over. But they did shoot in Ghana, but it was only a role in the castle,’ she said.

She further noted that she felt disappointed and annoyed after the movie was produced in South Africa.

According to her, she could have done a good job because the storyline for the movie resonated better with Ghanaians than South Africans.

| was really disappointed, but South Africa had the edge, so they were able to take it. | was really offended… Benin is right here, the Volta region, and Togo are right here, and they are one people,’ she added.
