A 15-year-old from the Edmonton area has been arrested on terrorism-related charges, highlighting concerns about youth radicalization in Canada.

A 15-year-old from the Edmonton area has been arrested and charged with terrorism-related offences, making him one of the youngest individuals in Canada to face such charges.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the arrest following an investigation by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) in Alberta.

The youth, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was taken into custody on May 25, 2025.

He faces two charges: one count of facilitating terrorist activity and another of participating in the activity of a terrorist group.

Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the alleged activities but confirmed that the charges stem from online activities and communications.

The RCMP emphasized that there was no imminent threat to public safety at the time of the arrest.

The youth appeared in court on May 27, 2025, and remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.

The case underscores growing concerns about the radicalization of young individuals through online platforms.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by Canadian law enforcement to monitor and address potential threats posed by youth radicalization.

The RCMP continues to collaborate with various agencies to prevent and respond to such incidents.
