Kaizer Chiefs are said to be eyeing Nigerian goalkeeper Japhet Opubo of Lobi stars.

The 30 year old shot-stopper has performed well in Nigeria Premier Football League.

Following the exit of Itumeleng Khune, Amakhosi have failed to get a stable keeper. The local goalkeepers such as Fiacre Ntwari, Bruce Bvuma, and Brandon Petersen have not been able to make the position permanent.

In 12 NPFL games and four CAF Champions League games, Opubo recorded two clean sheets each.
His career consists of time at Bayelsa, Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars.

According to a source, the reps of Opubo are looking at offers including one of Chiefs.
Chiefs believe he is a good prospect to solve their goalkeeping problems.

In the event that the move materializes, management of Chief is hoping that the Nigerian will stabilize the relationship between the posts. As they head into pre-season, they are soon in need of clarity.

The fans will follow the progress. Will Opubo come back to Naturena and inherit the number one jersey? The Kaizer Chiefs are confident of getting out of their keeper crisis quickly before the commencement of the new Betway Premiership season.
