Keke Palmer is taking a risk with her new visual album Just Keke, in which she shows her process of heartbreak, self-discovery, and queer identity.

At the height of emotions, Palmer gives some empowering words:

Experiment with yourself and what you feel good to you, and do not judge yourself because you are trying to figure out sexuality, she said.

Her separation with former partner and the father of her son, Darius Jackson, is also mentioned in the project, with very personal songs such as Ripples, Amnesia, and Tea, Boo.

These tunes take the audience directly to her sorrow and maturity on the screen.

Palmer stated a strong message: “When you own your story, you get power.” She attributes the album to her working through pain and establishing healthy limits in love

Being a proudly queer artist, Keke Palmer also called RuPaul her favorite queer icon, embracing queer joy and representation in mainstream media.

Just Keke is not only an album, but it is a statement.

With dramatic imagery and bold lyrics, she challenges listeners to walk in her footsteps and hopefully gain strength in their respective experiences.
