Chelsea were shocked by a 3-1 loss to Flamengo in the Club World Cup in Philadelphia, after a second half comeback.

Chelsea were given the lead on 13 minutes in a cool finish given by Pedro Neto when the defense got mixed up.

But Fluminense responded six minutes later in the break, through Bruno Henrique and Danilo, taking control completely.

The game turned a corner when the substitute Nicolas Jackson, who had been on the field only four minutes, was given a straight red card after making a reckless challenge on Ayrton Lucas.

His sacking rattled Chelsea and added to their miseries. Wallace Yan scored late to secure a win to Flamengo.

The Flamengo supporters went wild, even making fun of Cole Palmer on social media by posting a deleted wording of “Too hot for Cold Palmer”.

Discipline problems and the lack of tactical acumen brought down the performance of Chelsea .

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca accepted the defeat well-deserved.

The defeat causes much concern before the upcoming season of the Premier League with regard to defensive discipline and depth of the squad
