The Communications Minister in Ghana, Sam George, has initiated a huge challenge against the subscription rates of DStv Ghana.
He called in the country manager and board chair of MultiChoice Ghana in an urgent meeting.
His agenda: “Make sure that the price of content is in line with the economic reality of Ghana”
The meeting, which will be held on Thursday, July 3, will involve the Group CEO of MultiChoice Africa.
Sam George stressed that this move is based on the reaction of people and the increasing number of complaints on social networks about the high prices of bouquets .
He termed his action as one that was meant to reduce loss of revenue, as well as to regulate the pricing standards.
The minister also pointed out recent small decreases in the price of the equipment and this has been due to the strengthening of cedi but maintained that the subscription rates remain to be heavy
As consumers push DStv to lower its subscription cost with the words, “lower subscription fees,” Sam George is being vocal in support of affordability.
He assured that the population will be informed about the results of the meeting after July 3
