MTN network issues are creating a security crisis, according to Ghana Police Service officials.

Law enforcement claims criminals are actively exploiting poor connectivity to evade detection.

The Police Cybercrime Unit reported that MTN network issues frequently disrupt real-time tracking of suspects. “Dropped calls and dead zones help criminals escape,” stated DSP Akuffo.

Recent data shows 38% of failed crime interventions involved communication breakdowns. MTN’s coverage gaps reportedly hinder emergency responses and evidence collection.

MTN Ghana acknowledged the concerns but cited infrastructure challenges. “We’re investing $50 million in network upgrades,” a spokesperson responded.

Business owners shared horror stories. “Robbers strike during network outages,” lamented a shopkeeper in Accra.
Many citizens now carry multiple SIM cards as backup.

Security experts warn the problem may worsen. “Criminals study network patterns,” revealed safety consultant Kwame Asare. He advised businesses to install alternative communication systems.
