Artist who has no hit is the only one that can be controlled, Ubi Franklin claims, highlighting an industry truth: success brings autonomy.

The veteran music executive expressed this view while discussing how popular and talented artists negotiate better deals and avoid undue influence, compared to lesser-known names.

Franklin, who founded MMMG and managed stars like Iyanya and Tekno, emphasized that once an artist achieves a hit, they gain leverage in negotiations.

In contrast, those without chart success often lack bargaining power and can easily be manipulated or sidelined by industry gatekeepers

Discussing industry dynamics, Franklin also shared concerns about unpaid obligations and structural challenges.

Earlier in 2025, he revealed facing around ₦30 million in debts, while being owed close to ₦782 million showing how financial leverage and resilience shape the fate of managers and artists alike.
