The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a strict access control policy for its National Identification Number (NIN) self-service modification portal.

According to a public advisory signed by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, this new regulation links each user’s account exclusively to the browser and device used during registration. Attempts to access the portal from any other setup may lead to access denial.

Moreover, the Commission warned that clearing your browser’s cache might reset the account’s configuration and result in a lockout.

In such cases, users have up to five unlock request attempts. Once exhausted, no further unlock requests will be processed, potentially causing irreversible access loss.

These precautions are part of NIMC’s broader drive to enhance data security and protect the integrity of user identities on its digital platforms.

Citizens are urged to follow the guidelines closely to avoid disruptions and are advised to contact NIMC customer support if they encounter access issues.
