The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lagos, for masterminding cross-border cannabis trafficking operations.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest after months of evasion.
The pastor was apprehended on August 3, 2025, inside his church compound in the Lekki area when operatives struck at the end of a Sunday service.
This arrest comes amid a sweeping national enforcement effort. NDLEA agents recovered a staggering 3.4 tonnes of assorted drugs in coordinated operations across multiple states:
Lagos: 32 pouches of Canadian Loud (a potent cannabis strain) weighing 15.63 kg were recovered from an Ikoyi apartment.
Nasarawa: 3,093 kg of skunk cannabis seized in New Karu.
Kano: 359 kg of skunk found with 639 blocks.
Gombe: Over 550,000 opioid pills recovered.
NDLEA continues raids and sensitisation efforts across the nation to disrupt demand and supply.
