The Lagos State Government has announced a planned traffic diversion on Osborne Road in Ikoyi (Eti-Osa LGA) to accommodate essential drainage infrastructure upgrades.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, this project involves installing a cross-culvert to link recently constructed drains along Modupe Alakija Crescent with the underground drainage beneath the median of Osborne Road.
Work will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15 and is expected to conclude by midnight on Sunday, August 17.
To minimize traffic disruption, a counterflow system spanning approximately 100 meters from Modupe Alakija Crescent to the Alfred Rewane Road junction will be implemented.
Inbound traffic from Alfred Rewane Road to Osborne Road will use a contraflow lane before rejoining the normal route; outbound traffic toward Alfred Rewane Road will be limited to a single lane.
Alternative routes have been proposed:
Motorists from Osborne Road heading toward Alfred Rewane Road are advised to take Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue, then proceed via Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road.
Similarly, those coming from Alfred Rewane Road toward Osborne Road should use Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road before linking back via Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will oversee traffic management throughout the period, and the road is expected to fully reopen by Monday, August 18.
