WTO DG, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Denies Blasting Nigerian Leaders Negotiating With Bandits
Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has debunked reports claiming she criticized Nigerian leaders for allegedly negotiating with bandits.
The false reports, which circulated widely on social media platforms, alleged that Okonjo-Iweala condemned Nigerian authorities for “pampering criminals while neglecting law-abiding citizens.”
The statements were falsely attributed to her, sparking online debates and political reactions.In a statement released through her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the WTO chief described the reports as “entirely fabricated and misleading.”
She urged the public to disregard the viral claims, emphasizing that she had made no such remarks regarding Nigeria’s internal security matters.
“Please be informed that I never made any statement criticizing Nigerian leaders for negotiating with bandits.
This is false and should be ignored,” Okonjo-Iweala stated.

Traders near the Relief Market, Onitsha, defied the police order restricting movement to engage in brisk business on Saturday morning as the Anambra governorship election kicked off.
By 7am, the traders had set up their makeshift stalls, selling goods and food along the main thoroughfare despite official warnings to stay off the roads during the electoral process.
Despite the presence of police officers enforcing the movement restriction, the marketplace in Onitsha was bustling with activity as residents stopped for last-minute purchases, especially those buying food.
Tinubu accused of paying alleged ₦250 billion to lure opposition governors, senators to APC
The administration of President Bola Tinubu has been accused of allegedly offering huge financial incentives to opposition governors and lawmakers to dump their parties and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a report obtained by SaharaReporters, sources inside the Presidency revealed that the wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC is being driven by massive cash packages coordinated directly from Aso Rock and supervised by senior officials close to President Tinubu.
The sources alleged that each state governor who recently joined the APC received a total of ₦250 billion as an inducement package.
One insider told SaharaReporters that the money was released in two stages, N100 billion upfront and the remaining ₦150 billion after the official defection ceremony.
The report also claimed that senators who defect are paid N1 billion each, while members of the House of Representatives allegedly get ₦500 million each.
Eliminate terrorists, sponsors before US military action, Adeboye tells FG
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to immediately eliminate terrorists and their sponsors ahead of the possible United States military action in Nigeria.
Adeboye gave the advice on Friday, during the November Holy Ghost Service while reacting to recent threats issued by US President Donald Trump.
He advised President Bola Tinubu to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to wipe out terrorists and their financiers.
He said failure to do this should lead to their resignation.
The cleric said,
“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem, it started before him.”
Recalling the tenure of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, he said he had once privately advised him to take decisive action when killings in the country became unbearable.
However, Buhari did not follow through on the counsel.

The naira traded flat-to-firmer on Saturday as Nigeria’s official Daily Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) held around ₦1,436 to the US dollar, while the parallel (black) market quoted the greenback near ₦1,470 (sell).
Traders said limited volatility at the official window and steady demand at bureaux-de-change kept spreads narrow between the two markets.

Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has slammed the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government over its persistent downplaying of the mass killings ravaging parts of the country, insisting that what is happening is genocide, not the so-called “farmer-herder clashes.”

He accused the government of hiding behind misleading narratives to avoid accountability, saying the scale, coordination, and targeted nature of the killings make it clear that Nigeria is facing a campaign of extermination — not random communal violence.

“How can a farmer who owns nothing be clashing with somebody carrying a Kalashnikov and M-16 rifles? And they are calling it a farmers-herders clash.
