Nigerian music star Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has sparked massive discussions online after a video surfaced showing him hinting at a possible presidential run.

The clip, which appeared online on January 8, 2026, captured the singer in a relaxed moment with family and friends as he spoke about politics in a playful but bold way.

In the trending video, Wizkid surprised many by openly talking about contesting for Nigeria’s highest office.

The moment quickly went viral, with fans and critics debating whether it was a joke or a serious long-term plan.

In his words, he said: “Wizkid political party. WPP.

I am running for presidency in the year 20…”Family games

He stopped short of naming a specific election year, leaving the statement open to interpretation.

Beyond the presidential tease, what caught even more attention was Wizkid’s announcement of his own political platform.

According to him, his movement would not align with major Nigerian parties like APC, PDP, or Labour Party.

Instead, he introduced a new party named the Wizkid Political Party, shortened as WPP.

The timing of the video raised eyebrows, as it came just hours after Wizkid hit a historic achievement.

On January 8, 2026, the Starboy became the first African artist to reach 10 billion streams on Spotify, further cementing his place at the top of African music.

The milestone added more weight to the moment, with many seeing the announcement as symbolic.

Wizkid has also been making headlines off the music stage.

He was recently inducted as an honorary member of the Lagos Motor Boat Club after performing at the club’s New Year’s Eve gala.

During the ceremony, the singer received a certificate and club hat from the club’s Commodore, with photos from the event shared online.Blending Celebrity With Elite Circles

The Lagos Motor Boat Club, founded in 1950, is known as an exclusive gathering space for wealthy Nigerians, royals, and business leaders. Members include prominent figures such as Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi and Ogiame Atuwatse, the Olu of Warri.

Club officials described Wizkid’s induction as a celebration of cultural and social synergy, highlighting his growing influence beyond entertainment and into elite social networks.

For now, Wizkid has not clarified whether his presidential comment was serious or made in jest.
