Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has explained why he is not interested in engaging in Nigeria’s electoral reform discussions, describing the process as “dead on arrival.”

In a statement circulating online, VDM said electoral reform should not be driven by social media activists or ordinary citizens alone, but by major political figures who directly contest elections.

He mentioned politicians such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and other candidates as those who should be leading the push for reforms.

According to him, youths are not meant to be at the forefront of the struggle but should instead play a supporting role behind the politicians who are most affected by the electoral system.

“I can’t waste my time on electoral reform because it is deåd on arrival. Peter Obi, Atiku, El-Rufai, and other candidates are the ones supposed to be at the forefront pushing for the reforms.

They youths are supposed to support them from behind.”
