A student leader has stirred reactions after declaring that Nigerian students are benefiting from the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly through education-focused initiatives.
Speaking on the impact of government interventions in the education sector, the student leader insisted that students across the country have reasons to appreciate the current administration.
“At this juncture there’s no Nigeria student that’ll tell you they’re not enjoying the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
He pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the major achievements of the administration, noting that it has provided financial support to students struggling to pay school fees and meet basic living expenses.
According to him, the scheme has reduced the burden on many families by offering education loans and monthly upkeep allowances to beneficiaries, making tertiary education more accessible.
The student leader also cited increased budgetary attention to the education sector, arguing that the government has demonstrated commitment to improving opportunities for students.
During the remarks, he further endorsed Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda ahead of the forthcoming Senate election, praising the lawmaker’s past contributions to student welfare.
“In fact, during his time at the Senate, there were numerous policies that favoured Nigerian students,” he said.
He credited Aduda with supporting students through scholarships, fellowships, and various campus engagements, while criticizing the current senator for what he described as a lack of similar initiatives.
“These are things that the current senator has not done,” he added.
The student leader maintained that his political support is based on credibility, capacity, ideas, and ideology rather than party loyalty or sentiment.
