Meta, the parent company of Whatsapp Inc rolled out a long requested features many months ago. Number one allows it users delete messages that have been delivered. The second was the disappearing messages which is also called the message timer on the app.
Message timer primary function is to erase chats within the time set. Whatsapp currently has only 4 timer options; 24 Hours, 7 Days, 90 Days and Off.
Lastly, we have the view once feature which basically let the receiver of the media view it once and cannot be screenshot. I am sure you have these features on your smartphone. It is only made available to Android and IOS users.
Note that all three features was once available on Whatsapp web and the desktop app but one was later taken down. According to Meta at the time, their decision to remove the view-once feature was due to some security issues.
In a new development, it is now said that the view-once feature will be back on the web and desktop app version of Whatsapp. WABetaInfo report indicates that the feature is definitely coming to the web and desktop.
A screenshot was attached to the report and it was seen that the button to set a media to view once sits in the caption bar just like we have it on mobile devices.
The feature’s security issues for it removal in the past has been fixed and is now secured to be used. It is reported that the feature will be available on MacOS (Linked iPads), and Windows devices. Meta would also make it available for whatsapp web users.
According to the report, the Whatsapp view-once feature for web and desktop app has already rolled out to some eligible users. So if you have not gotten it, it will definitely come around.
