Homeland Security Minister Ken Zikhale came out on Wednesday to announce the listed 79 countries that no longer need visa applications to come into the South African country.

This is to improve tourism in the country and to make access easier for the nationals of the listed countries which include China, Russia, Canada, Uk and the rest mentioned.

Members of the South African Development Community (SADC) like DR Congo, Lesotho, Tanzania, Zambian etc and countries from the Common Market for Eastern And Southern Africa (COMESA) such as Libya, Madagascar, Kenya, Zimbabwe etc don’t need visas to access the country.

Although, this new regulation doesn’t include countries that charge visa applications for access on Malawian Nationals visa from Malawian citizens.

In addition to the exceptions, diplomats and countries that are in mutual agreements with Malawi for multiple-entry are good to go.

This strategic decision is to enhance trade and strengthen the diplomatic bonds and multilateral relationships between Malawi and the listed countries.

Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule said to local media that the decision doesn’t lie on visas only, that it is about inviting the world to have a taste of the wonders in the country face-to-face and to also let loose of the raw potentials in the country.

This monumental decision isn’t just about visas; it’s about unleashing the untapped potential of our beloved Malawi and inviting the world to experience its wonders first-hand,”

Vera said

One of the 79 countries given access, England, has called on its citizens to make use of the opportunity to go for tourism in Malawi.
